On a Bosch dishwasher, E24 is a drainage fault and E22 is a filter or circulation fault. E24 means water is not leaving the tub, usually a clogged filter, hose, or pump; E22 means the filter or circulation pump is restricted. Both are mechanical and straightforward to fix.
E24 is the most common Bosch drain code. Water is not exiting the tub fast enough, and the usual chain is: the filter at the bottom of the tub has clogged with debris, the drain hose has kinked or blocked behind the cabinet, or the drain pump impeller has jammed on a shard of glass or a label. Clearing the full drain path resolves nearly all E24 faults.
E22 points to the filter or the circulation system. If the fine and coarse filters are packed with food residue, water cannot circulate properly and the machine flags E22. Cleaning the filters and confirming the circulation pump runs freely usually clears it. A tired circulation pump that no longer moves water at the right rate can also cause it.
Both codes reward the same monthly habit that prevents them: pull and rinse the cylindrical filter under the lower spray arm. Most E24 and E22 faults trace back to a neglected filter. When cleaning is not enough, the drain or circulation pump is tested and replaced. These are among the most common and most fixable Bosch faults.
